Who is responsible. This site and the Overdrive plugin are published by Pencil Park (France), the data controller for everything described below. For any question about your data, write to overdrive@pencil-park.com. The site is hosted by OVH SAS, 2 rue Kellermann, 59100 Roubaix, France — your data stays on servers in the European Union.
Beta signup. When you request the beta we store the form fields you submit: name, email address, After Effects version and, if you fill it in, what slows you down in AE. We use them to send you beta builds, your license key and build updates, and occasionally to ask about a bug you reported — that is the service you are requesting, so the legal basis is the performance of that request (GDPR art. 6(1)(b)). Your email is never sold, shared or used for anything else. We keep signups for the duration of the beta programme and delete them at its end, or earlier if you ask.
Contact form. Messages sent through the contact form (name, email, message) are emailed to us so we can reply, and kept as long as the conversation needs, then deleted. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in answering you (art. 6(1)(f)).
Licenses and the plugin. To operate your license, the server stores your email, your license (the key itself is stored hashed, never in clear), its plan and expiry, and one line per activated machine: a pseudonymous hardware fingerprint (a SHA-256 hash computed by the plugin — we never see your hardware identifiers), an optional machine label, OS, After Effects and plugin versions, and a last-seen date. The plugin contacts the license server to activate, revalidate or deactivate a seat and to check for updates; it sends no project data, no file names, no usage analytics. Legal basis: performance of the license (art. 6(1)(b)). License records are kept while the license is valid and up to 12 months after expiry, then deleted.
Technical logs. Calls to the license API are logged (IP address, endpoint, success/failure, a non-identifying fragment of the key) to throttle abuse and audit incidents. These logs are deleted after 7 days. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure (art. 6(1)(f)). Form submissions are also mirrored to a server-side fallback file so a database outage never loses your request; the mirror is covered by every deletion request.
Cookies. The public site sets no tracking cookies, runs no analytics and loads nothing from third-party servers — fonts included, everything is served from this domain. A consent panel (the open-source vanilla-cookieconsent module, self-hosted) manages any optional service we may add in the future: nothing in the optional categories loads before you allow it. The only cookies you may find are the one storing your consent choices (kept 6 months, exempt from consent under CNIL guidelines) and a strictly necessary session cookie in the private admin dashboard. You can change your mind any time via “Cookie preferences” in the footer.
Who sees your data. Nobody outside Pencil Park. Two processors handle it on our behalf: OVH (hosting, EU) and our email provider (SMTP, to deliver the transactional emails above). No data leaves the European Union and none of it is used for advertising or profiling.
Your rights. You can ask for access to your data, a copy of it (portability), its correction or deletion, restriction of or objection to its processing — write to overdrive@pencil-park.com and we will answer within a month. Deleting your data simply means you stop receiving builds and your license stops working. If you believe we mishandle your data, you can lodge a complaint with the French supervisory authority, the CNIL.
Terms of use
Beta software. Overdrive is under active development. Beta builds are provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind. Keep backups of your projects — Overdrive reads your comps and displays frames, and does not write to your project file, but beta software is beta software.
License. Beta builds are licensed to you personally, for the duration of the beta, free of charge. Don’t redistribute the builds; send curious friends to this site instead. Pricing comes with the release, and beta testers hear about it first.
Feedback. Ideas and bug reports you send may be used to improve the product, with no obligation or compensation — that’s the point of a beta.
Trademarks. Overdrive is an independent product, not affiliated with Adobe. After Effects is a trademark of Adobe Inc.
